MMP's Orange Series has included several books on WW2 Italian aircraft of late, this title being the latest and it covers what was probably the best Italian fighter of the era. In 128 pages, the author covers the design/development/production of the G.55, the post-war G.55A/B and the RR Merlin powered G.59, then leading to descriptions of service with the Regia Aeronautica, ANR, Luftwaffe, Aeronautica Militare, FAA, REAF and SAF. The next chapter covers camo'/markings of the various operators complete with 21 pages of colour artwork, while chapter four is a technical description of the type illustrated by excerpts from period manuals. The book is completed with a 28 page chapter consisting of very detailed walk-around photo's in colour of a museum replica.
