Ley Reynolds Imperial German Army Motorised Troops 1914-18, Volumes 1 and 2 by Jacek Zabielski, Helion & Co. Ltd., RRP about $60 This is a much neglected topic with only Tankograd having published titles on some of its component parts to date and at higher prices. Each volume consists of 128 pages, four of which are colour artwork and 170+ b/w period photo's with extended captions. Unsurprisingly some of the former are not of great quality, but they nevertheless illustrate the subjects adequately. Volume 1 covers; . The origins of German mechanical transport, . Army Transport Service including organisation, vehicle production and wartime shortages, . Specialised motor vehicles such as motorcycles, ambulances, fire engines and naval motorised units, . Moving heavy guns covering both steam and petrol powered vehicles. while Volume 2 continues with; . Motorised AA artillery, . Armoured car units, . Tank detachments, . Uniforms, equipment and weapons. Taken together these volumes provide a reasonably complete overview of this subject and are recommended.
